About SEANNET
Established in 2017, SOUTHEAST ASIA NEIGHBORHOODS NETWORK, otherwise known as SEANNET is an initiative research, teaching and dissemination of knowledge on Asia through the prism of the city and urban communities. Funded by Henry Luce Foundation in New York, SEANNET focuses on the development of contextualized knowledge on the spatio-human environment of neighborhoods in select cities of Southeast Asia. This is done through participative field-research, in-situ policy roundtables, local capacity building exercises, academic conferences, publications, documentary films and web-supported interactive syllabi.
SEANNET also aims to generate alternative, generalizable paradigms on cities through neighborhood network, or the micro-local framework of scholarly and civic engagement. SEANNET involves interdisciplinary, trans-sectoral and multi-scalar expert and practitioner exchanges for deployment in academic programs, including actors on the ground.
